As a child of the Bergstrasse, Louis Schlag was shaped by the villages of the Odenwald as well as Mannheim and Heidelberg as urban centers in the region around the Rhine and Neckar rivers. The approach of looking at challenges from different perspectives is at the center of his work. His studies in politics, administration and human geography in Constance, Münster, Ljubljana and Bologna serve as his armory. In particular, questions of rural development and the housing of the future accompanied him throughout his studies. Louis combined both topics in his Master’s thesis, which focused on the establishment of communal housing projects in rural areas.
In his day-to-day work, he is also driven by the search for and dissemination of innovative and community-orientated solutions that can improve the quality of life in rural areas. This enthusiasm eventually led him to the Andreas Hermes Akademie, where he works as a policy advisor for rural development.
